Two babies have hatched under Curious and Blue and are available.

June 22, 2008 This page has been very quiet and I thought we were done for they year for anymore babies. Our temps have been as high as 110-114 for many days in a row. Lo and behold, if a baby did not just hatch under Blue and Curious. I hope this wee bird can make it. I see my pairs get in their water dishes and climb dripping into the nest box to cool off their babies. Amazing creatures. There are misters in their cages, but the nests are warm. I doubt their will be any babies under Fuzzy and Wuzzy. One egg might make it. The others are gone. I do leave up my boxes for the green cheeks year round. They like sleeping in them, and they usually stop themselves from laying when the heat hits. Typically, they lay 2 clutches per year.

June 5, 2008. All of our Pineapple and Cinnamon and Turquoise Babies are in their new homes. We do have more eggs under Fuzzy and Wuzzy. They produce very red and very beautiful Pineapple Green Cheeks. These babies should start hatching in about 17 days. We do have Yellow Sided Green Cheek babies available.

On the subject of poop....It is not unusual for a parrot to hold their poop all night long. This makes for a great opportunity for potty training. When they awaken in the morning, they have saved up a "bomb." We run them to a good spot and say, "go potty." and they are usually anxious to let their bomb drop. I am going to have to video tape Jessie and Du Bonker (her Blue Crown)...it is so funny to see, for the "bomb" drops in the toilet!

Our pair of Pineapple parents are back on 4 eggs. They are Fuzzy and Wuzzy and produced the Pineapple babies that are pictured if you scroll on down. Just one of these babies is reserved. There will probably by 3 more babies if this pair continues the patterns that we have seen before.

Most of the babies from previous clutches have gone home with a few still weaning. Everyone is delighted, but I do hear frustration at the flight suits. Flight suits are hard to get a bird used to. We start them while they are here, putting them in them about 4 times per week. If you are getting a baby from us, review carefully how to hold your baby while putting a suit on. The better you are at that, the easier it is for your bird. It takes a bird about 6-9 months to get used to wearing one from my experiences. Even my Grey who is one year old still protests. I took her out on a miniature horse ride just tonight. She loves being behind the cart with the horse pulling us, and I am glad she is wearing a suit, but she protests while it is going on. Every baby in our house is wearing a flight suit right now. So....it is not a good time to bring over your grandchildren.... you never know what I may do to them :)

There is also a Normal looking baby that is split to Turquoise available. The father is Yellow Sided split to turquoise and the mother is a visual Turquoise. The baby HAS to be split to Turquoise and might be split to yellow sided (if it is a male).

We are feeding 2 of Gala and Fuji's babies. The oldest is a Yellow sided and the next one is a Normal with very unusual coloring.

Fuji and Gala: I cannot candle these eggs to check for fertility for about 2 weeks. Their clutch is unpredictable as far as which mutations are available until the babies feather out somewhat. I will know if there are Cinnamons or Pineapples by the red eyes when I look in the nest box. It is hard for me to promise someone a baby from this clutch until I know what we have.

Fuzzy and Wuzzy are eggnant. They are very red Pineapples and should make stunning babies!

Fuji and Gala are on 3 eggs and laying more daily. They have the potential to make Normals, Cinnamons, Yellow Sideds and Pineapples.
