Health Guarantee and Payment Policies
Our goal is to provide you with as healthy pet that will bring joy for years to come. Please do not hesitate to call if you have questions regarding care, husbandry or behavior. The articles on this site will answer many of your questions too. If we are unable to help, we will be happy to refer you to many resources or qualified veterinarians who can provide care and advice. We do guarantee all birds to be free of viral disease or congenital hatch defects.
All birds sold from our aviary come with a 3-day period of guarantee as to the health status for the buyer. Pamperedpeeps Aviary agrees to replace the bird or give a full refund on the purchase price of the bird if it is proven to not be healthy following the sale. Due to conditions that will be beyond our control, we cannot guarantee the birds beyond this 3 day period.
Seller does not consider a mild growth of gram negative bacteria to be abnormal post shipping, but recognizes this as normal and expected due to stress. As a buyer, I encourage you to have the bird examined at the buyer's expense by a avian veterinarian within 72 hours from the time of delivery to verify the health of the bird and to uphold the health guarantee as stated here.
In the event that the buyer fails to have the bird referenced examined by an avian veterinarian within 72 hours of delivery, fails to notify seller immediately of changes in health within the 72 hour period or fails to submit the deceased bird's body for necropsy, then the buyer understands and agrees that the sale is one of "as is" condition. The original band must be intact and on the bird sold to buyer. Removal of the band revokes any expressed or implied guarantee. In the event that the purchased bird would die within the 72 hour period, buyer must immediately refrigerate (not freeze) the bird(s) body in a sealed plastic bag and deliver the body within 12 hours to a qualified avian veterinarian for necropsy to determine the cause of death.
There is a list of avian vets in the Phoenix area on this site. If a bird should die, it must be submitted to an avian veterinarian for a necropsy and histology within 24 hours of death. It must be kept refrigerated and not frozen. We are not responsible for airfreight charges nor for veterinary charges after birds leave our home.
In the event that the seller is unwilling to deliver the bird to the buyer for any reason, including the seller's own decision to keep the bird for herself, then the seller will refund all monies paid to her including the deposit. I retain the right to refuse to sell a bird to any buyer.
If, within one year of the date of purchase, examination by an avian veterinarian indicates that your bird has developed serious problems, or died, because of a congenital or hereditary defect, you are guaranteed a full refund, or, if available, a replacement bird. An avian veterinarian must verify this condition and the bird must be returned to me.
All emails between buyers and myself, including pictures, are able to be used on our website. If you do not want me to put it on the site, please just specify and I will not.
Pamperedpeeps Aviary does not normally sell unweaned birds. By completely weaning our babies, we can then completely guarantee their health. There is no benefit to the buyer in buying an unweaned baby.
I will send you an email when your baby is ready to go home. If the buyer does not pick up the weaned baby within 1 week of the notice, (unless prior arrangements are made), your baby will go to the next person in line, and you will have lost your deposit. I will charge $10 a day for bird sitting after this. I have been very accommodating with buyers when they communicate with me, but I get frustrated with buyers who do not inform me of their intents.
All birds are weaned to a pellet-based diet that includes vegetables and fruits. See "baby care." As the norm, we will not tube feed babies, unless a medical condition requires it.
All birds are raised in a loving environment with lots of activity (dogs and children included). See "about us."
We do accept deposits for future babies/eggs and this deposit is refundable until the egg for that species is laid. Once the egg is laid for the species you requested, your deposit is no longer refundable. This is due to the fact that if you have reserved a baby, I will be telling other interested families that I will not have that species available. Your deposit will be refunded if we are unable to produce the baby you request. Your deposit is also transferable to another species or mutation if it requested by you before the baby hatches. Deposits are usually around 30% of the total. I like to keep my numbers even though. With Green Cheeks, I ask for $100, and $200 for Crimson Bellies and $300 for the Greys.
** Payment methods accepted are postal money order, cash or paypal. On all paypal payments, please add 5% to your bill. Please do not try to pay with a personal check or another type of money order. We live a long way from any bank, my post office will cash the postal money orders for me and thereby saving me from running into town with bank errands. POSTAL money orders can only be obtained at a United States Post Office.
